Work has been undertaken over winter 2009/10 which has resulted in the re-development of the station area including an extra platform, carriage siding and station cannopy. The section of line leaving the station as been worked on to give a constant grade of 1 in 50. During the winter period two new driving tenders have been constructed to be used with Saffron and Tom. Both of these tenders have vacuuum pumps fitted to operate the coach brakes.
